I really became an artist in 2012, when I divorced after nineteen years of a rewarding marriage which produced three lovely kids. I left behind my home and a successful law office in order to start all over again.
I would describe myself as defiant, unstoppable, and obsessed with new ways to express how I feel and how I see the world.
I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This city is unique for its people, places, nature, and culture. Perhaps this explains my creative process and the diversity of my work. Brazil is a large challeng-ing country. Its social issues are close to my heart, and I use my work to tell many of the city’s inspiring stories in the hope that that society will reflect on the true meaning of happiness.
In fine art, I am always trying something new. This is almost an obsession with me. Photography must engage people. At least it must engage the photographer and the viewer. It should be beau-tiful, invoking a feeling of wonder and, most importantly, it must mean something. If I have a photograph hanging on my wall, it must tell me something, take me out of my comfort zone and, above all, it must be something I can live with and admire every day. That is why I have many series which I work on regularly — trying out different papers, long exposures, multiple expo-sures and so forth, in order to create new concepts.
I am privileged to have a great partner by my side who is loving, supporting and inspires me to create new ideas.
